Tree-tables by Ian Sanders

Hand-carved Tree-tables are my own original idea, and I have been making them now for over twenty years.

The idea came from a feeling that most carpentry and joinery is based on straight lines, and yet our spectacular and ancient trees in the British countryside are rarely so regular. With a mallet and hand-chisels one can create that sense of the natual form which makes our trees so inspiring.

In 2019 I relocated  my home and workshop from Norfolk to West Oxfordshire.

My wood comes only from British supplies of timber either locally or from around the country.

Please browse the gallery to see my current stock of tables which are available and some examples of other sorts of tables which have been commissioned or sold.

Commisions

If I have not got something exactly right for you,  I do work to commission or I may have something in progress which can be finished more quickly. Due to the nature of the process and the habits of wood, I usually like to allow up to a year for commissions, especially if the wood is not in stock and has to be sourced. In such circumstances I usally give you a quote, and require a 20% deposit which usually is enough to cover the cost of the wood. If you have unfortuanately had to cut down a favourite tree, I maybe able to make a special tree-table just from this wood.
